This place lives up to its name. There were a ton of kids in there going nuts on sugar highs. We came in for a cool ice cream treat on a hot day. I recommend it but watch out for the crazy kids. They have some old timey candies. I saw stuff from when I was a kid. Check this place out. $10 minimum on credit cards.

The kids loved this place. Surprise surprise. All kinds of candy, but mostly junk candy. Some nostalgia with certain items. Great location to bike to but lots a parking also. Crazy prices for Edy's Ice Cream. Considering the location I'm sure their rent is crazy too. I got a scoop of strawberry dipped in chocolate sprinkles. Reminded me of a place in Miami Beach when I was a kid. The girls tried ten flavors and liked what they finally chose. Wife won't let us go back. Seriously. I quote, "Too expensive for Edy's that I can buy myself at Jewel." We ended up at Heavenly's in Seaside for the rest of the vacation and got some great gelato. I'm giving it four stars because the kids and I liked it. It's fun and we were on vacation.

While checking out the stores at Rosemary Beach, the kids spotted this place and boom, they were gone. As others have mentioned, the prices here are extremely high, I'm sure their rent is equally outlandish, so that's to be expected. My problem with this place is less pricing and more floorspace. On a Friday night you couldn't even move here, there was mass confusion on which line was for what...one for checkout and one for ice cream. It's also packed with the teeny boppers who just stand in the way with dumb looks on their faces.

This was a long wait for Edy's ice cream. It was such a disappointment to wait that long to see ice cream we could have bought at the grocery store for less than half the price. This place was loaded with kids whose parents let them do whatever they want as long as they don't bother their parents.

Crowded and rude staff. Try not to bring your kids here. Just get the ice cream and bring it out to them.

The milkshake are so amazing here . I like the mango favor !!!!! That is good for the kid to take the candy here

Whoever keeps the candy inventory at this store must go nuts. There are hundreds of different candy brands in this store! It is crazy. Although we didn't buy any candy, some of the other reviews say that it is over-priced. So what? Do these people expect to find "value" deals in a vacation beach town? At its core, Sugar Shak is an ice cream store that serves about 12 different flavors and offers the typical cone options (sugar, waffle, etc). And sure, the ice cream is from Edy's but it's still pretty good. We ordered about 5 different ice creams (some in cups, some in cones) and the total price was about $20. The Sugar Shak serves up some good ice cream in a convenient location -- what more could you ask for?

Paid $4 for a small peach milkshake made out of vanilla ice cream and peach syrup. I'd expect more from a business in this area. This type of decision making is just cheap and lazy.

The candy is way too overpriced. I payed $5 for a small pack of Reese's pieces and $6 for Dibs. The store is too small and can get claustrophobic. The lines can get really long. And their clothing is too expensive.

Yum! Yum! Yum! This place is every kid's favorite. My parents and I went there for some butter pecan ice cream and it was amazing! Super fun candy shop on the beach. You'll love it! However, the shirts there are a little pricey.

This puts willy wonka and the chocolate factory to shame. I am a big kid at heart and if I came to Rosemary beach when I was younger I would not only go to this location once a day but several times a day. While the ice cream is Edys ice cream, it's still great and they make fantastic milk shakes. This place has gotten many poor reviews and I guess if you are expecting homemade ice cream and gourmet candies, then don't go here. But, if you like nostalgia and want to be taken back to our childhood where you can eat all the candy you can fathom and get a sugar high then this is for you! We went mid day and let me tell you if small screaming children running around doesn't appeal to you....avoid at all costs! I had a great time as did our entire group, all the employees were very kind and the wait did take a little while but none the less is was fun!

Great for kids! Though their ice cream is not homemade it is Edy's (not sure why OP said "best in the world") Homemade ice cream or salt water taffy would really make this place perfect.

The Sugar Shak is the closest thing to Charlie's Chocolate Factory as you'll get in this life. I've never seen so much candy and ice cream per square footage. Want to keep your bored children occupied for a while? Take them here. I bet it will take them at least 10 minutes to rummage through it all. Speaking of kids, it seems as though this little shop is specifically geared towards that demographic. The atmosphere is quite colorful and loud, and definitely not a place for adults to sit down and satisfy their ice cream cravings. Speaking of atmosphere, this place is crowded. Not just with people, but with the piles of candy too. Space is definitely a challenge for Sugar Shak. If you're claustrophobic then this is not the place for you. You literally cannot move due to the candy stacks and random kids taking up the rest of the free space. Unfortunately, if you're looking for sweet shop on 30A this is pretty much your choice. There's a yogurt shop nearby, but any candy or ice cream desires will have to be satisfied through Sugar Shak. I say "unfortunately" because, at least in terms of the ice cream, I left somewhat conflicted. You would think a place like this would supply their own recipe of ice cream, but to my surprise, they were serving Edy's. Yes, the same Edy's you can buy in any supermarket for $5. Well at the Sugar Shak be mentally and financially prepared to spend $3-$6 for a cup. Now my ice cream cravings were in overdrive at the time of purchase so I can claim desperation as an excuse, but if you sit and think about it, you are paying a ridiculous upcharge for store bought ice cream. I didn't price the candy, but it wasn't anything special either and you can find a lot of the selection in a Publix, Winn Dixie, Kroger, etc. And if the ice cream is any indication, then it's probably no better in price. I get it though, Rosemary is a great little area with all kinds of unique shops. Sometimes you (or your child) get a sugar craving after a day at the beach or shopping and this place is by far the most convenient. Just know you are paying a huge upcharge that convenience.

We went there for ice cream. It's eddy's. The store is quaint, but the ice cream tasted like ice water. They were priced reasonably but I can't say I would recommend them.

I have been taking my kids to the Sugar Shak for years. It's one of our vacation traditions! Great candy selection!! All the old school stuff too! We love it! My only complaint is that the T Shirts are too expensive....$32 for the one my kids wanted! Overall, a great place to take the kids

The Sugar Shak is a nice atmosphere, but a little loud. They had a wide variety of treats, though not many rare candies. The store is nicely decorated but it's a bit cramped. They did however have the rare "jelly bean" gum, just not in stock. To get to the reason I gave this 1 star is their prices. They are severely overpriced. One piece of gum will set you back 20¢ where at a gas station you can get 20 of the same product for just a buck. Additionally, my father was shocked when he saw the price of a andes mint, 75¢.

Go to Publix down the street for the same exact candy selection at 25% of the price. Sure, Publix doesn't have the "ambience" of a tourist trap with no A/C or disinterested/rude service by the kids working there, but Publix does have Edy's ice cream, the same crap they serve at the Shak at a markup of 500%. Buy a pint at Publix for the same price as a kids scoop at the Shak. I've dropped the obligatory $50 at Sugar Shak. Never again.

This is the greatest place on earth. Greatest. The owner is the sweetest woman I have ever met. The Shack is a child's paradise, with floor to ceiling candy of any kind you can imagine and the best ice cream in the world...every kid will leave with a smile. Tucked in the tiny town of Rosemary Beach, it is the perfect cherry to top of this town's charm.

Don't bother stopping in here on your walk through Aly's Beach. There are several reasons for my degrading review of Sugar Shack compared to the ones previously given it. 1. The place is packed with tons of candy (this is cool)...but their prices are outrageous. $4 for a box of candy I saw the other day at Walmart 2 for $2?! I think not. I didn't feel like a kid in a candy store. It was more like a being a teenager in a Mercedes showroom: I wanted it, but everything was too expensive. 2. I am a huge ice cream guy. I scourge the earth in search of ice cream joints that do it right, so I was pumped when I saw that Sugar Shack sold ice cream. I walked in eagerly ready to buy some ice cream, then I see it: the labels say "Edy's". What?! They don't even make their own ice cream. Gone are the days of parlors and small shops that just resell ice cream that isn't theirs. You've gotta get with the game, and make your own items if you expect to WOW people. I mean, come on, Edy's? That's not even a good brand. It's the brand I shun when walking through the freezer section at Walmart. And then their prices for the small cups they call servings: $3.50 for a cup that might hold one scoop. I just walked straight back out. 3. As with their ice cream, none of their candy is homemade either. I was expecting a good candy shop with unique candies, fudges, etc. made by Sugar Shack, but no. They just sell the same junk you can get at the Dollar Tree. Count me out.

I wish I could give this place negative stars. We just got back from there, after a TERRIBLE experience. We got a couple bags of candy expecting and acknowledging its exorbitant cost, but I was shocked when the girl ringing us up announced "$103.07" we didn't know what else we could do so we paid and left. While walking out to our bikes a few mothers overheard our complaints and told us to go have them ring it up again and make sure they hadn't made any mistakes because they'd heard someone saying they made a $18 overcharge. So, we went back in and had the manager count it. Our jaws DROPPED when she said "61.89" THEY HAD OVERCHARGED US $40!!!!!!! Unbelievable. Go get your kids their candy at a gas station next time.

This ice cream and candy store is the most inefficiently run I've seen. Which is a shame, because it could be such a gem if they just ran it a little better. You stand in line to order your ice cream (which is just edy's and pricey). . .then once you get your ice cream. . . .you have to go get in another line to pay for it. By the time you pay for your ice cream its completely melted or gone. And who really wants to enjoy their ice cream in line? Nobody that's who! This was the most inefficient food service ever! Get another register. One dedicated to ice cream. . .the other for candy purchases.

Perhaps when I have children, the Sugar Shak will bark up my tree. Until then, I'm staying the heck out of dodge. Ma, Granny and I were hoping for a cute and delectable stop but unfortunately ended up leaving after standing in line for ions without progressing. We were there on a Monday evening, expecting to have a wait but not expecting sheer chaos. Maybe having two sections, one for ice cream buyers and one for candy buyers would be best. Or just a bigger space all together! Many little candy trinkets caught my eye but the sardine-like environment and lack of any sort of organization really kept me from experiencing all Sugar Shak has to offer. It might even be helpful if a staff member was on the floor directing traffic. My recommendation is Orange Leaf down the road or buying some Blue Bell at Publix and making your own tasty treat! Have fun!

Sugar Shak is a very cute store but not worth the exorbitant prices. They take advantage of you having your kids in the store and you being on vacation by charging $5.99 for a gummy snake. For 4 pieces of candy for each of my two kids we were hit by a $32 total. I am the first person to tell my kids that they can't have something and strongly believe in a parent's responsibility. I also firmly believe in capitalism and that companies have the right to charge what the market will bear. That said I will not be visiting this store again during my regular trips to Rosemary Beach.

Very overrated. No homemade candies, overpriced candy you see at your everyday convienience store. Served Eddy's ice cream. I ordered a $5 root beer float and they handed me a can of A&W and a cup. Nothing special about this place at all. Of course kids like it though because its candy. Like I said, nothing special.

Not sure if I've ever been in a more aptly named business. Ice cream, candy, sodas, etc. Kids paradise (parents nightmare), but what the heck. When you are on vacation you have to let loose and if you are in the area it is a fun stop!

Drop the kids off with $20 between 3 of them, pick them up 5 minutes later on the other side of Florida... Rocking back and forth and shaking. This place has kiddie crack pixie sticks, candy, ice cream, etc. It's the non-arcade kid entertainment locale. A meet-up for tweens. Good business. Annoying to anyone who hates screaming 12 year olds. Perfect summer place.

Great variety. Some classic candy. A kid's dream. However, way too expensive. $1.95 for a regular sized candy bar and .25 penny candy.
